News (The transplantation has been performed!)
My name is Gladkov Alexander. I was born and presently live in Kharkov, Ukraine. I’m 24. Being a 10 year old child I’ve came to “Dinamo” stadium and made my way up from a young member of the sportive club to a member of Ukrainian national team. For 14 years of my carrier I’ve became:
• А master of sports of Ukraine;
• A champion of Ukraine;
• A member of Ukrainian national team;
• A champion and winner of international tournaments;
• A record-holder of the city of Kharkov (400m hurdles).
What made me achieve all this was systematic training, sometimes its number run to 18 per week. And even a nasty weather could not be an obstacle for me to stop working to improve myself. May be that intensive training in particular was the reason why I’ve let slip the beginning of my disease.
In 2006 I was preparing for the Europe Championship. Just a few weeks before the event I found out that I was ill with an incurable illness, which could not be healed – renal impairment. As I’ve made a checkup, doctors figured out that I was ill during 10 years. Despite that every half a year I had been going through a clinical examination in sportive dispensary, primary symptoms of the disease weren’t discovered.
In may 2006 I’ve taken an intensive medical treatment. During 4 month no positive results occurred, in September 2006 I was sent to undergo a course of hemodialysis (twice a week). It gave no improvement and 2 month later I had to turn to a 3-times-a-week treatment. As my sportive supervisors found out about my diagnosis, all my benefits were abolished, all the payments I had as a member of the national team were denied. The “Dinamo” club provided me with “welfare” counting 150 grn (30$), and a week treatment, needed to maintain my health and my life, cost 2000grn (400$).
The head doctor of the section of dialysis (17th hospital) assured me that the only chance to recover was a kidney transplantation. However my family and friends would be able to provide a sum needed for it in no less than 5 years.
Meanwhile in march 2007 a visual impairment occurred because of high pressure caused by hemodialysis. I almost can’t see....
The illness grows progressively very quickly, it exhausts me. I’m afraid that in 5 years there already will be no use in transplantation…That’s why now I’m asking for help.
The operation in Germany costs 50000 euro. Germany is the only country which gives a 10-years guarantee on the new kidney, 10 years of life…
